OVERVIEW
My AS-level product design project was to research, design and build a lamp for elderly people or people with limited mobility or dexterity. The lamp has a simple design and is very easily adjusted so that the user can read with it. It uses a circuit board (Arduino) and a proximity sensor so that the customer can turn on and off the lamp without touching anything as well as adjust the brightness by simply changing the distance of their hand from the base of the lamp. This is good for people with arthritis or limited mobility. I have used many production techniques including laser cutting and routing.
